INKOMPASS is a global internship program by Philip Morris International that enables you to discover yourself by working in a creative, dynamic, and culturally diverse environment. When you intern with us, you will be given an opportunity to:

Who can apply? We are looking for students who are:

  • Undergraduate or graduate students, graduating in Fall '25 or Spring ‘26 - in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Industrial Engineering or any other related fields.
  • Fluent in Japanese and advanced level in English
  • Top talent students with potential to grow into managerial roles within the next 3-5 years
  • Eager to lean & open minded
  • Excellent team players

How to apply? Applying for INKOMPASS is a very simple process and takes only a few minutes. All you have to do is fill out the application for the internship program.

  • Application

    Go to the “Explore Opportunities” page and select your country of internship. Visit your country page and check the internships available. Review the details and apply for the opportunity you want.

  • Evaluation

    If you meet the criteria, you’ll be invited for a digital interview which will evaluate your communication, team building and problem-solving skills. Clear the interview to take an online assessment to evaluate your analytical skills.

  • In-person Assessment Day

    If you were successful with step 2 you will get invited to an in-person assessment day, where you will participate in team activities, one on one interviews with PMI experts, and engage with other fellow candidates!

  • Internship Offer

    Selected candidates will receive an internship offer from us. At the end of the program, you will receive a certification for INKOMPASS Program Completion.

Projects we are accepting applications for

Digital plays a key role in the transformation of our organization towards a smoke-free future. Digital team is responsible for driving the development and implementation of our digital transformation strategy.

The Duty Free organization in Japan is a part of the Global Duty Free business unit, where the main objective is to offer to travelling Legal Age Nicotine users the best possible range of Smoke-Free Products portfolio and related consumer experience.

Commercial Operations is to lead all human-interface service and sales channels (direct and indirect, excluding Digital and e-Commerce), all commercial operations and commercial capability building, and facilitates our commercial strategy development and prioritization from an enterprise perspective.

OCS contributes PMJ & PMI business by ensuring high quality products to be provided to Japan market in the timeliest and cost-efficient manner utilizing the expertise and guidance of OPERATIONS. It is called Supply Chain in other companies.

In simplest terms, People & Culture is a group who is responsible for managing the employee life cycle (i.e., recruiting, hiring, onboarding, managing employee experience journey, talent management& development and retire) and administering employee benefits. It is called Human Resources in other companies.

S&PD is responsible for driving strategy development, working in close collaboration with all functions and leading data analytics and data management, and oversee our Project Management operating framework and governance to ensure that our organization operates efficiently and effectively as a project-based organization through driving project delivery and capability building.

Finance is a team of empowered and passionate finance experts. They combine functional proficiency with deep business understanding and co-pilot PMI confidently into the smoke-free future.

Marketing grows our brands’ equity and share by developing long term strategies, innovation pipeline and digitally enhanced product initiatives by leveraging consumer insight and direct engagement.

Communications manages and protects the reputation of Philip Morris and PMJ, actively and compellingly tells our transformation, innovation, and business stories, working across all functions to ensure a consistent and relevant narrative.
